RYA Day Skipper Theory

Course Content

This is a beginner's course, which assumes no prior experience and is intended to be both enjoyable and informative. It introduces basic navigation, including chartwork, position fixing, tides, buoyage, and passage planning as well as the essential subjects of safety and meteorology.

The course is equally suited to both sail and powerboat users. With the increasing use of modern electronic aids to navigation, an introduction to the safe use of G.P.S. is also included. The course is essential preparation for the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course.

Previous Experience

None - Although some practical experience is desirable

Duration and Price

5 Days - Monday to Friday (Local accommodation available)

3 Weekends

1 Day a week for six weeks
